Victoria Ward, Regional Director of Save the Children Latin America and the Caribbean, says
"With the Eglantyne Jebb Journalism Award we seek to bring newsrooms closer to the issues that are impacting the lives of children and adolescents in the region. Disseminating their realities and ensuring their voices are heard is an important first step to ensure their rights are attained. I invite the journalists of the region to participate in this contest and to divulge these issues more and more".
Participating stories must have been published in a Latin American and Caribbean media outlet between November 20, 2021 and November 20, 2022. The rules of the award and more information on how to apply can be found on the website: periodismosavethechildren.org
The organization has named this award "Eglantyne Jebb" in honor of the British social activist, founder of Save the Children, who in addition to creating one of the leading organizations in the promotion and defense of the rights of children and adolescents, also drafted the first Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1924, a text that was the basis for the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
