MADRID, 13 July 2023 - Actress Úrsula Corberó has joined Save the Children as a new ambassador and will support the organisation in promoting gender equality as well as supporting children in humanitarian emergencies.

The Spanish actress, best known internationally for her role as Tokyo in the Netflix series “Money Heist”, will work with the charity to help ensure girls’ access to education and also to combat the violation of girls’ rights, such as forced child marriage, female genital mutilation, and trafficking for sexual exploitation.

“Thanks to Save the Children, I’ve been able to meet girls with wonderful potential. Girls and young women who are strong, who have clear ideas and plans for the future, who only need a bit of support to make their way and make their dreams come true. I wanted to join an organisation that makes this happen, and that’s why I went to Save the Children,” said Úrsula Corberó.

“Úrsula is the perfect person to help us show the public that the world is full of girls of all ages who want to study, work and make their own choices. As a woman who built her career from a very young age as a girl, she couldn’t be a better ambassador to build support for girls who need it the most,” added Andrés Conde, Save the Children Spain’s General Director.

Corberó, 33, will work with Save the Children in English and Spanish to reach global audiences. Born in Barcelona, she also speaks Catalan. In addition to her long-term commitment to working with girls, Corberó will also support Save the Children in humanitarian emergencies.

After gaining international recognition for “Money Heist”, Corberó will release a new series on Netflix on 8 September called “Burning bodies”. She also has several films in the pipeline, including “Matar al Jockey” by Argentinian director Luis Ortega, and “Lift”, directed by F. Gary Gray.
